Auntie Nina

Big news this week is my brother and his wife had their first child, so I am now an Auntie! Months ago I got to work on making some gifts for my little niece. I love woollen fabric and often end up with a large amount of scraps hanging around, so this quilt was perfect for making use of all those beautiful pieces of fabric. I guess that's why I enjoy making patchwork quilts so much, using up those scraps is so very satisfying and resourceful! :)

Drafted to my own design, I am thinking of adding this as a custom design for my Etsy shop. I asked my partner Oscar, what is a good shape to use for a patchwork? He said trapezoids, so that's what I used. As a kid I had my own special patchwork quilt, so I hope that my niece will enjoy looking at the colours and patterns, as well as keep snug through the cold winter weather.

We will be going to visit them soon, so perhaps when I get back I'll have some photos of her using the quilt along with the red hand knitted/crochet set of clothes I made. It's going to be fun being an Auntie :)
